Miami, Mar 26 (EFE).- The debut of Colombian singer Shakira on NBC's music competition "The Voice" was viewed by 13.4 million people, according to figures released by Nielsen on Tuesday.
The television program received a viewer share of 4.7 percent among adults ages 18-49 making it the most-viewed show on Monday night by that market segment.
Shakira, who is temporarily replacing Christina Aguilera, is joining R&B artist Usher, who also made his own debut on Monday replacing Ceelo Green, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and country singer Blake Shelton as a judge on the show.
The songstress is seeking to transmit all the energy she displays while performing onstage into this new professional challenge and before the show she had already made her intentions clear, saying, "Never underestimate a Colombian woman."
Show-business media on Tuesday played up the appearance of Shakira and Usher on "The Voice" and said that the two singers contributed new energy to the program, while MTV said that the Colombian was "entertaining" during the two-hour program.
